DORSET

Welcome to Moonfleet Farm Holidays

Near to the Jurassic Coast

Moonfleet Farm has various holiday choices available, including a shepherds' huts and a holiday cottage, all set in the heart of the Hardy countryside in stunning Dorset with lovely views and rolling landscapes.

For 2025, Our campsite is open from 1st April to 30th September  (See Tarrif page).

Moonfleet Farm is situated at the west end of the picturesque village of Higher Ansty, Dorset. Our 14 pitch campsite offers long distance sunset views of the Blackmore Vale. The farm has various options for holidays.

Two old ponds have been re-covered and restored at Moonfleet. Both have islands and have been re-lined with clay dug from the site. There are Perch, Roach, Carp and Rudd thriving in the ponds. There have been many varieties of animals, birds and insects which have made these nature reserves their home. Ducks, Swans, Canada Geese and Barn Owls are resident or visit on a regular basis.

There are many beautiful scenic walks in the area and there is a network of public footpaths and cycle paths which lead to other hidden gems within the heart of the Dorset countryside, often leading to remote and quaint villages, churchyards (and invariably a real ale pub). We also have a private wood for walking and exploring.

...perfect for some peace and tranquillity.

We can also allocate a private field for events, weddings and stag/hen parties. An on-site marquee can also be hired.

Please do get in touch if you have any questions about our holidays.

"Lovely property in a remote but beautiful area. Our hosts were charming and helpful and the property was exactly as billed.

Loved seeing the farm dogs and chickens in the morning."

“It was absolutely beautiful and although it was cold outside (April) the beds were so warm and comfy! The children absolutely loved being on the farm and the views were stunning. Just wish I had booked an extra night!”

Moonfleet farm is not economically viable in modern times as a standalone concern; however, other activities subsidise the traditional farm-work income i.e. a small intimate cosy campsite with fishing ponds. The farm also exchanges use of farm machinery and buildings use with other farms. In the past there has been an orchard at the farm, thought to supply cider apples to the locals and to the Fox Public House via the Ansty Brewery. During 2010 an orchard was re-established at Moonfleet and is now planted out with a traditional variety of cherries, plums, pears, eating and cider apples.

Dotted along the hazel/hawthorn hedgerows are mature English Oaks as is typical of the rural Dorset scene. These trees are important to the county and are gradually disappearing from the hedgerows as disease and age take their toll, without intervention modern methods of hedge cutting do not allow the oaks to re-establish. At Moonfleet Farm we have a programme to re-establish the hedges with young oaks.

The farm faces south west with long views to the Blackmore Vale. The distant horizon presents us with the most extraordinary sunsets.
For 2025, Our campsite is open 1st April to 30th September until further notice.   (See Tarrif page).
