Dorset is famous for its apples and orchards. Many of the old orchards have disappeared perhaps due to competition from abroad where apples are grown in an easier economic and natural climate.
At Moonfleet Farm, we produce our own cider fermented from the apples gathered from the local village and that of our own orchards, the tastes are therefore varied. Made from a mix of eating and traditional varieties of cider apples this craft made cider is fermented for twelve months and over the winter. The finished cider s bottled for distribution the following summer.
Bees, honey and pollination
In tune with the fruit trees in the orchard, we have established a number of hives for the production of honey and genetically healthy bees. We have a wide variety of fruit trees producing pears, cherries, apples and plums. The efficient pollination of the flowering trees ensures a productive crop of both fruit and honey.
